Amanda Nunes already is widely considered to be the greatest female fighter in Mixed Martial Arts history, but she now has the chance to strengthen her case even further. Nunes looks to become the first UFC fighter, regardless of gender, to successfully defend a title in two different weight classes when she faces Felicia Spencer for the women’s featherweight championship at UFC 250 on Saturday. The main UFC 250 fight card is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. ET from UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Nunes has defended her bantamweight crown five times, most recently at UFC 245 nearly six months ago, but hasn’t put the featherweight belt on the line since winning it in December 2018. Nunes is a -650 favorite (risk $650 to win $100), while Spencer is a +475 underdog in the latest UFC 250 odds from William Hill. In the co-main event, Cody Garbrandt (-150) squares off against Raphael Assuncao (+125) in a bantamweight fight. A CBS Sports editor specializing in MMA, Wise has been dissecting the sport for five years. He specializes in picking main-card fights for UFC, which has enabled him to be profitable every year. Wise went a perfect 5-0 at UFC 239 and was 4-1 at both UFC 245 and UFC 249. Across UFC 247, UFC 248 and UFC 249, Wise went 11-4 with his main-card picks, returning healthy profits for anyone following them. He also called Burns’ big upset last Saturday over Woodley, who was a -175 favorite. Anyone who has consistently followed Wise is way up.

Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer preview

Wise knows Nunes, who is also the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, will be making the first defense of her featherweight crown since making quick work of Cris Cyborg for the belt in December 2018. That victory, a 51-second knockout, made her the first woman in UFC history to win two titles and hold both simultaneously.

Nunes (19-4) is riding a 10-fight winning streak, the longest by a woman in UFC history and ninth-longest overall in the promotion, and can tie men’s welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for the eighth-longest by defeating Spencer. The 32-year-old Brazilian, who defended her bantamweight title with a unanimous decision over Germaine de Randamie in December, owns the UFC women’s records for most wins (12) and most title-fight victories (seven).

Spencer (8-1) atoned for her lone professional loss the last time she stepped into the Octagon, registering a first-round TKO victory over Zarah Fairn on Feb. 29 after losing a unanimous decision to Cyborg last July. The 29-year-old Canadian is no stranger to titles, as she defeated Pam Sorenson for the vacant Invicta Fighting Championships belt in November 2018 before signing with the UFC four months later. Top UFC 250 predictions

We’ll share one of Wise’s UFC 250 main-card picks here: He is backing Cory Sandhagen (+105) to upset Aljamain Sterling (-125) in a bantamweight bout.

This fight will go a long way towards determining who battles for the vacant bantamweight title following the sudden retirement of champion Henry Cejudo last month. The 28-year-old Sandhagen (12-1), who is ranked fourth in the division, has won seven consecutive bouts since dropping a unanimous decision against Jamall Emmers in February 2017 while in the Legacy Fighting Alliance.

The second-ranked Sterling (18-3) began his MMA career with 12 straight victories and enters UFC Las Vegas on a four-fight winning streak. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the 30-year-old was a champion in Ring of Combat and the Cage Fury Fighting Championships, but hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since winning a unanimous decision against Pedro Munhoz nearly one year ago.
